\nEducational Campaign Promoting Cultural Exchange and Social Integration<\/strong><\/p>\n

DISCOVER POLAND INTEGRATION WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN
\nA series of workshops aiming to teach basic facts about the culture, history, geography, heritage and traditions of Poland and Central Europe will run in libraries in Dublin, Blancharstown, Cork and Limerick between October and December.
\nThe workshops for schools based on intercultural education guidelines are designed to expand the horizons and intercultural experiences of our youngest citizens.
\nChildren aged 5-12 will join facilitators Joanna Parkes, Donal Gallagher and Janusz Flakus for this special event which will be packed with wonderful stories and lots of fun, hands-on activities. The workshops are being conducted in conjunction with local schools.<\/p>\n

The project is organised by the Embassy of Poland in Dublin and Forum Polonia in collaboration with the Bishopstown Library (Cork), Blackpool Library (Cork), the Limerick City Library (Limerick), the Blancharstown Library (Dublin) and the Ilac Centre Library (Dublin). It is also supported by Bilingual Forum Ireland. The initiative aims to celebrate the Polish Presidency of the EU Council.<\/p>\n

Target group: 4-10 years old

\n1. General purpose:<\/strong>
\n– to challenge stereotypes\/misconceptions and discrimination
\n– to broaden understanding and acceptance of difference
\n– to pique children\u2019s curiosity about different countries
\n– to encourage intercultural understanding
\n– to appreciate diversity
\n– to search for similarities<\/p>\n

2. The Project aims to:<\/strong>
\n-Encourage positive future relationships with Polish children through a basic introduction to the Polish language
\n-Enrich knowledge of Polish heritage by introducing children to famous Polish people
\n–Educate young people about Polish geography, climate and culture eg.
\ndiscuss Poland on the European map, neighbouring countries\/sea and point out
\ninteresting facts<\/p>\n
